Coherent Interferometry Algorithms for Photoacoustic Imaging

چکیده
The aim of this paper is to develop new Coherent Interferometry (CINT) algorithms to correct the effect of an unknown cluttered sound speed (random fluctuations around a known constant) on photoacoustic images. By back-propagating the correlations between the pre-processed pressure measurements, we show that we are able to provide statistically stable photo-acoustic images. The pre-processing is exactly in the same way as when we use the circular or the line Radon inversion to obtain photo-acoustic images. Moreover, we provide a detailed stability and resolution analysis of the new CINTRadon algorithms. We also present numerical results to illustrate their performance and to compare them with Kirchhoff-Radon migration functions. AMS subject classifications. 65R32, 44A12, 35R60

B-Mode Photoacoustic Imaging using Linear Array: Numerical Study for Forward-Backward Minimum Variance Beamformer Combined with Delay-Multiply-and-Sum
Photoacoustic imaging (PAI) is a promising medical imaging modality which provides the resolution of Ultrasound (US) and the contrast of Optical imaging modalities. One of the most important challenges in PAI is image formation, especially in the case that a linear-array US transducer is used for data acquisition. This is due to the fact that in the linear-array scenario, there is only 60 degre...
متن کاملThe advantage of using a diode laser instead of a Q-switched laser in photoacoustic imaging of tissues
Photoacoustic (PA) imaging of biological tissues using laser diodes instead of conventional Q switched pulsed systems provides an attractive alternative for biomedical applications. However, the relatively low energy of laser diodes operating in the pulsed regime, results in generation of very weak acoustic waves, and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the detected signals. This problem can be ...
متن کاملBiomedical Photoacoustic Imaging Using Gas-coupled Laser Acoustic Detection
Several detection methods have been explored for photoacoustic and ultrasound imaging of biological tissues. Piezoelectric transducers are commonly used, which require contact with the sample and have limiting bandwidth characteristics. Interferometry detection exhibits improved bandwidth characteristics and resolution, yet generally require complicated optics and the incorporation of a contact...
متن کاملNon-contact Photoacoustic Tomography using holographic full field detection
An innovative very fast non-contact imaging technique for Photoacoustic Tomography is introduced. It is based on holographic optical speckle detection of a transiently altering surface topography for the reconstruction of absorbing targets. The surface movement is obtained by parallel recording of speckle phase changes known as Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometry. Due to parallelized 2-D ...
